  • Stainless Steel - Grade 416 (UNS S41600)

416 is the most machinable grade of stainless steel. It is a low cost grade and can be used unhardened, hardened and highly tempered states. Hardness is optimised at the expense of other properties and corrosion resistance is lower than for austenitic grades. Applications include valves, gears etc.

  • 416 303 Free Cutting Stainless Steel Bar

416 Stainless Steel material offered by Beall Industry Group is a martensitic free machining grade of stainless. Due to its low cost and ready machinability, 416 stainless steel is readily used in its highly tempered state. It exhibits better machining characteristics than austenitic grades, however, sacrifices corrosion resistance.

  • Types and grades of Stainless Steel Plate // Stainless

The straight grades of austenitic stainless steel contain a maximum of .08% carbon. There is a misconception that straight grades contain a minimum of .03% carbon, but the spec does not require this. As long as the material meets the physical requirements of straight grade, there is no minimum carbon requirement.

  • UNS S31254 Super Austenitic Stainless Steel - High

UNS S31254 stainless steel is a super austenite grade which has high impact toughness resistance to chloride led corrosion, pits and crevices. It is an American material standard for standard specification for chromium and chromium-nickel stainless steel plate, sheet, and strip for pressure vessels and for general applications.

  • Austenitic Stainless Steels | Stainless Steel Types

Austenitic Stainless Steel Grades. Austenitic stainless steels are classified in the 200 and 300 series, with 16% to 30% chromium and 2% to 20% nickel for enhanced surface quality, formability, increased corrosion and wear resistance. Austenitic stainless steels are non-hardenable by heat treating.

  • Stainless Steel - Heat Treatment

316 grade is austenitic while 416 is martensitic stainless steel both have different composition and application. 416 have high sulphur content and not suitable in marine or any chloride exposure. 316 is not hardenable by heat treatment while 316 have superior corrosion properties than type 416. 416 is stronger than 316
