  • Difference Between TIG and MIG welding | The Engineers Post

Both TIG and MIG welding uses an electric arc to make the weld. With the help of MIG welding, you can weld a variety of materials such as stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium. On the other hand, tig welding is more commonly used for thinner gauge materials. Read more: What is welding and how it works?

  • TIG Weld Stainless Steel Like a PRO! - JoeWelder

Stainless steel is a steel alloy that contains chromium--which gives the metal that shine that it is prized for. Also, stainless steel does not rust or corrode as easily as carbon steel, another property which makes it a popular metal for many TIG welding applications from industrial equipment, food processing, aerospace, and automotive.

  • Welding | Princess Auto

Most welding involves ferrous-based metals such as steel and stainless steel. Welding covers a temperature range of 815 to 1,649°C (1,500 to 3,000°F), and is the strongest method for bonding metal to metal. Welding can also be done without the use of a filler metal, by using heat energy alone. Electrodes: flux-cored wire; GAS TUNGSTEN ARC

  • Welding Stainless Steel Exhaust Pipe - Miller Welding

Hey, This is an exhaust system, not gas line pipe!!!! 100% penetration isn't really necessary, and it seems like it would be a pain to get the TIG under the truck, on your back, just to weld it up. I've seem guys just use regular mild steel wire on stainless and never have a problem other than rust!!!!!

  • Welding of Stainless Steel without a purge - Welding Forum

There are a couple of ways to weld stainless steel without purging the 'back' of the weld. I take it, your talking about TIG welded root runs? Solar-flux is one, Flux-cored wire is another. Solar-flux is a powder that is mixed with methanol to form a cream like paste, which is then 'painted' onto the inside of the pipe/plate. When welding the
